Cowboys cut Lucky Whitehead after warrant issued for his arrest

Whitehead was arrested in June 22 for shoplifting less than $200 worth of merchandise from a convenience store in Woodbridge, Virginia. Police responded to a call made by a convenience store employee, who said Whitehead ran out of the store without paying for some merchandise. Police located Whitehead in the parking lot and arrested him a short time later.

Whitehead failed to show up for his scheduled arraignment on July 6 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He has another court hearing scheduled for August 10.

It’s been a drama-filled offseason for Dallas. Defensive lineman David Irving will serve a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, and Randy Gregory will miss the entire season after failing multiple drug tests. The team is also still awaiting word on the outcome of the NFL’s investigation into domestic violence allegations against Ezekiel Elliott last year. It’s possible the star running back could miss one to two games
