Watch Christian McCaffrey embarrass Luke Kuechly at Panthers practice

Rookie running back Christian McCaffrey has been showing off some impressive moves during practice, most recently at Luke Kuechly’s expense.

During practice on Wednesday, McCaffrey beat linebacker Luke Kuechly to the sideline on an out route before catching the football and spinning away from Kuechly to run up field. Once Kuechly recovers, McCaffrey jukes away from him and continues down field.

It’s not surprising to see McCaffrey making special plays — he broke Barry Sanders’s NCAA all-purpose yards records, so he’s obviously a talented player. But to see him do it to Kuechly, a Defensive Player of the Year winner and four-time Pro Bowler? That has to get the Panthers excited.

McCaffrey gained 6,987 all-purpose yards during his four years at Stanford before being selected by Carolina eighth overall in this year’s NFL draft. Though he’s listed as a running back on the depth chart, McCaffrey may also spend time as a slot receiver and as a kick returner.
