Carson Wentz, eagles QB, is ready to take the next step in his return from a torn ACL and LCL suffered last December.
The timing could not be better for the Eagles. Nick Foles, who stepped in for Wentz and led Philadelphia to victory in the Super Bowl, strained his shoulder Thursday against the Patriots. ESPN reported the timetable for Wentz’s return was not accelerated by Foles’ status, which is not considered serious.
Wentz was putting together an MVP-type season when he was injured in Week 14 vs. the Rams. He had participated in 11-on-11 work at the start of the training camp, but the team decided it was more prudent to bring Wentz along at a slower pace.
The Eagles have two preseason games remaining – Thursday at the Browns, and Aug. 30 vs. the Jets – but Wentz is not expected to play in either. Wentz’s status for the regular-season opener, Sept. 6 at home vs. the Falcons, has not been determined.
