No one quite knew which direction things would go when star wide receiver Dez Bryant met with Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones on Friday. In the midst of predraft meetings, Jones took time out to meet with the eight-year pro to discuss a topic that has run rampant all offseason. With vice president Stephen Jones taking the megaphone, the team has made it publicly clear they were not happy with the return on investment on the five-year $70 million contract Bryant signed prior to 2015.
Reports have now surfaced the team has made a drastic decision to correct that, and intend to release Bryant, per any last-minute reversals.
Cowboys expected to release WR Dev Bryant today, barring an unexpected last-minute change of heart, per @toddarcher and me. But the plan going into meeting that is now underway was to part ways with Bryant.
