The Seahawks acquired offensive lineman Matt Tobin and a 2018 seventh-round draft pick from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2018 fifth-rounder.
The move comes after starting left tackle George Fant was lost for the season after tearing his ACL in Friday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Although there were other potential options for Seattle, including recently cut Jaguars offensive guard Branden Albert and ex-Giants offensive tackle Will Beatty and disgruntled Texans tackle Duane Brown, Tobin could jumpstart the development of one the Seahawks’ top young players.
Tobin started 21 of the 42 games he appeared in with the Eagles after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He finished 2016 on injured reserve after suffering a late-season knee injury.
