Josh Rosen on NFL draft slide: ‘There were nine mistakes made ahead of me’

Josh Rosen was upset after he was taken 10th overall in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night at the NFL draft.

No, the former UCLA quarterback wasn’t steamed at the Cardinals, who traded up to pull him into their system with Sam Bradford.

He believed he should have been drafted much higher.

In a press conference, he said, “There were nine mistakes made ahead of me, and I’m going to make sure they all know it was a mistake.”

Rosen was one of the quarterbacks projected to go early in the first round. But he sat and watched as three other passers – Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield (first to the Cleveland Browns), Southern California’s Sam Darnold (third to the New York Jets) and Wyoming’s Josh Allen (seventh to the Buffalo Bills) heard their names called.

The Cardinals nabbed him by brokering a deal with the Oakland Raiders, giving up picks in the third and fifth rounds.

Rosen tweeted: ”Motivated beyond words…let’s go win championships.”
